City audit finds lax funding oversight of Westside business enterprise team

An internal audit discovered that San Antonio’s Financial Advancement Department did not sufficiently keep track of its funding agreement with a nonprofit company advancement group with near ties to the city.

Prosper West, previously the Westside Advancement Corporation, submitted incorrect quarterly experiences, awarded a grant to an ineligible business enterprise, did not meet its matching fund specifications and did not return $53,500 in unspent money to the town, in accordance to the audit, performed from April to August. The metropolis auditor’s results had been forwarded to Metropolis Council on Sept. 26 by means of a memo.

The mission of Prosper West is to foster economic expansion and business enterprise improvement on the city’s West Aspect, furnishing grants, steerage and other solutions to modest enterprises.
