Who needs snow for WinterFest? Not the Newaygo Area Chamber of Commerce. With an assist from the folks at Jimmy's Roadhouse, the event went on as scheduled on Saturday, January 28th. While the late arrival of winter shifted the seasonal celebration (held annually the 4th Saturday in January) away from the traditional site of Hess Lake Newaygo's WinterFest went forward with a few minor adjustments....

National canoe and kayak event to return in 2013

The paddlers are coming back. Following a successful and well received inaugural event that drew thousands of people to the area in August, Newaygo Nationals organizers won their bid to bring the United States Canoe Association National Championships back to the Muskegon River in 2013.
